IMPACTS OF REWARD SYSTEM ON JOB PERFORMANCE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION LECTURERS IN FEDERAL COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN SOUTH SOUTH NIGERIA

Abstract

This study focused on the Impact of Reward System on Job Performance of Business Education Lecturers in Federal Colleges of Education in South-South Nigeria. Three research questions based on regular payment of salaries/wages, availability of conference allowances and good work environment were raised to guide the study. Survey research design was used and a sample of 117 lecturers in school of business education from the three federal colleges in south-south Nigeria was equally used. The instrument used was a structured questionnaire which consisted of two sections with five points response options. The instrument was validated by two experts in school of education. The reliability test coefficient (r) of 0.78 was achieved. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question. Test-retest reliability was used to determine the consistency of the instrument. Results of the data analyzed showed that regular payment of salaries/wages impact job performance of business education lecturers in south south Nigeria, likewise conference allowances and good work environment. Based on the findings, recommendations were made including that management of colleges of education should ensure that their lecturers are adequately rewarded using different reward system to improve their performance
