ROLE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN MANAGEMENT OF SAFETY AND SECURITY OF BUSINESS ORGANIZATION IN CURRENT DISPENSATION
Abstract
This paper discussed the role of information and Communication Technology (ICT) in management of
safety and security of business organization in this current dispensation. Information and
Communication Technologies are those technologies that provide access to information through
telecommunications. The advent of information and communication technology has ushered in new
ways of doing things in almost all spheres of life. The business environment is not left out in this
information and communication technology drive as it is by far the most important and impressive
means by which business organizations remain competitive in the dynamic environment. This paper
discussed the meaning of ICT, its basic elements, types of ICT in business organization and its
importance to business organization, safety and security management and the role of ICT in safety and
security management. The paper also highlighted that ICT allow employers and employees to become
better aware of their business surroundings and the dangers they may encounter and ICT in business
organization help to monitor the safety and security of the business environment and the safety of the
workers with the workplace. Based on the foregoing, it is suggested among others that Government
should pay more attention to the funding of ICT so that it can be of greater help as tools in monitoring
security system.
